Patterns in the Sky

  Patterns in the Sky

In late February and early March each year, thousands of Snow Geese, Chen caerulescens, gather Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, Kleinfeltersville, Pennsylvania,to feed in the outlying corn fields and prepare for the long flight to their nesting grounds on the Arctic tundra in the northern part of Canada. Here are thousands flying toward the West silhouetted against the sky at sunrise.
